Day 2-- You know your are in the country when you see.........

We woke up bright and early Saturday ready to start the day.  We had a yummy breakfast and then it was time to canoe!  The kids were so excited!  Okay, I have to stop right here and say Abby was not too excited about this trip.  She didn't think that Blue Ridge would be very fun.  I had to laugh on the inside when she asked "Why are we going to Hillbilly Hell?"  I realize that Blue Ridge may not seem like a fun place to a 13 year old, but I was determined to "help" her have a good time!  So, it was time to canoe!  Emma was up first.
James took each of them out one at a time.  I opted out due to the fact that me and canoes have a bad history!

Mr. Quackers heard us talking and that silly duck swam so fast over to watch the action!  Noah ran in to get Mr Quackers breakfast.  His second breakfast that is!  We had already "shared" our breakfast with him once.

Next up in the canoe was Noah!

He and James almost took a little swim, but quickly got control and off they went! I could hear Noah laughing! He was having so much fun!
Abby was next!  Look at the happiness on that face!!

She just LOVES it when I take pictures!!!  Love you Abby!!
When  everyone had a turn with the canoe, we headed into town to check out the action.
We laughed so hard when we saw this sign in the middle of Main Street.

I have a confession.  In my mind I thought for a brief moment, "We really are in Hillbilly Hell".
I quickly told myself "this is the country and in the country they have chickens on Main Street".  We never did see any chickens, on Main street that is!
We had fun looking in a lot of the shops.  Noah found this huge Sock Monkey and asked me to take his picture with it!  Noah really LOVES to have his picture taken!
Abby found this magnetic paper doll set.  We almost bought it!

We had fun in town!  We had lunch at a local restaurant that Abby picked out.  It was really good other than the fish smell!
We headed back to our cabin so the kids could enjoy the lake.  I wasn't sure about letting them swim in the water, but we met a couple that stayed there before and they said the water was fine.  Once the kids heard that they couldn't wait to jump in!  The owner of the cabin had some floats the we were allowed to use.

Abby was trying very hard NOT to get wet!

And then the war started!  Emma and Abby don't always get along!  I'm not sure who started it but they were chasing each other and then Emma was in the water.  I really think they were having fun! They were both laughing so I decided not to intervene.

They all had a really great time in the lake.  I actually saw Abby smiling (even if it was when she threw her sister in the water)!  We had a great Day 2!
